Deep Dive: Meet ANA Synchro Alumni (#10)

By: Kate Todisco

ANA Synchro is known for inspiring our swimmers and guiding them with creativity and passion to build successful leaders. In our continuing new series: Dive Deep: Meet ANA Alumni, we are pleased to  introduce you to some of our dynamic ANA Alumni.

Meet Erica Potts

Feeling right at home on the Andover YMCA pool deck, ANA Alumna Erica Potts is thrilled to be back with the team in a coaching capacity, instructing the 12&U Age Group Team. Juggling her coaching job while she is also finishing medical school, Erica is graduating this spring and she is eager to start her residency in pediatrics. Erica earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Biology from UMass Lowell. The seven years Erica spent on the ANA team learning important lessons in teamwork, discipline, and leadership will surely help her achieve her goal of working in a pediatric emergency department.

Thinking back on her synchro years fondly, Erica will always remember the strong friendships she forged in the swimming pool. Her best friends today are the same girls she spent long hours swimming with, perfecting figures and routines. One funny synchro memory Erica is sure to never forget is traveling to Disney World with a teammate and all the attention their knoxed hair attracted. She hopes her hair never receives so much interest from strangers ever again! The last and most important lesson Coach Erica wants to share with her fellow ANA teammates is - enjoy the time that you have with ANA. Whenever you are discouraged by a tough practice or don’t have the energy for just one more lap, remember the time flies by fast and you will miss synchro when you graduate.
